On May 15th I wrote about getting a Sparrow Trap to reduce the population of “HOSP” (bad birds) , since they were chasing off all the “desired” birds in my small area. I can say the trap is a success… I have not kept count of the “HOSP” we have eliminated but it is considerable and the effect is that we now have two pair of Blue Birds feeding young:
Parent on house and ready to check young”]
Appears ok from here??? “]
and several sets of Purple Martins with a good population increase.
“Coming in and in the far tree and on the other side… we are everywhere…”]
The Purple Martins are not as afraid of my approach, and they are sure doing a good job making “fly-overs” of the house and yard… I just hope they are using up more than their weight in bugs as we have plenty they need to “eliminate”….
I have sat and watched for many hours this weekend, since it was cooler and I could set outside more, the antics of flight from the Purple Martins… as well as our back yard Humming birds (no pics they are not as easy to catch)… This has been well worth the investment in the trap… JMHO (Just my Humble Opinion)…
