Windows for Christmas and New and old–food

Friday we got the windows washed.  I have the done once a year and seems a good thing to have done for Christmas… They do a good job, only takes them 2 hours and they get up on the roof and reach our tall windows or the ones that are really hard for me to get to…

These are just as bad on the inside it takes a 24 ft ladder to reach them…

Today, I cooked some new stuff today and didn’t do anything else but play on the radio… We got a slow start and had a really lite breakfast… poached egg and one slice of toast… not bad for a start…

Last night I had put some Mild Italian sausages in a bath to marinade… the sausages were a bit freezer burned as they had been in the freezer for some time… not sure how long but they were a bit dry on the ends so figured to soak them up good in a decent marinade and then smoke on the Treager… yesterday I had gotten a sweet onion, green pepper and couple of Jalapeno peppers to cook with them… The marinade was some old Sauterne wine, olive oil, and a Chipotle marinade pack I had gotten actually for some chicken but works on pork as well.  it all soaked over night and today I put it on at about 12pm… grilled the sausage on the grill and put the rest in a cast iron skillet in the grill to cook down the onions and peppers… once the sausages were decently done I returned them to the skillet to simmer in the “bath” for about 15 minutes… to top all that I put some cherry tomatoes in the bath as well when I started it.  total time on the grill about 45 minutes at 375 degrees… I forgot to get pictures as I was totally into the cooking… They were spicy, tasty and the vegetables were real good, but next time I only put one Jalapeno on the mix… they were a bit too warm… … While the sausages were cooking I mixed up some special potatoes.  I had seen this in the weekly Treager Recipe

and figured to try it but I put a twist in it too..  I used the butter and lemon mix , and used the parmesan cheese but instead of Thyme I used some Garlic powder and some Black Saskatchewan meat rub… … cleaned and cut the potatoes, buttered up the cut side and placed in the cheese mix and made sure it had plenty on it then laid that down on the backing pan I had put cooking oil on… I then rubbed the remainder of the butter-lemon mix on the back sides and sprinkled the remaining cheese-black pepper mix on the top… put that on the grill once the sausages came off and grilled for 40 minutes at the same 375 degrees… well we were full up with the sausage and vegies mix so let the potatoes cool a bit on the stove…

but had to try one later, and even cold it was almost better than the sausage… they would be real good with Bacon on them or crumbled bacon or maybe even pulled pork?  I will definitely have to do them again…the cheese is a bit crispy and the seasoning seems to cook into them?  sure was good…

The rest of the day I spent dong radio stuff… lots of contacts, reprogramming some APRS units to swap out and doing a little wiring of some eletronic circuits I intend to install later… on the contacts,  nothing really new but I have to keep at it if I want those new ones…

As I was out in the shop/radio shack… I got a call on the phone at 6pm that the pets were pacing the floor… I normally feed them about 5:30 so I had to go in to feed cause they were upset it was so late… ha!  Wish they would fire me…

For dinner??? We had some left over green chili I had saved back in the freezer a month ago and it was pretty good too… What a day… good food, nothing new and doing what I do best… nothing… much.
