The day was slow to start… which is ok, I am retired… First up we went out for breakfast… usual at Braums… nothing hugely exciting there… after that we went shopping for plants…
It is time to get the tomatoes out and the hanging baskets done…
We got the plants then had to get new baskets (coconut husk stuff) to put them in as the ones we had were 4 years old and wore out… probably should have replace years ago but we don’t put them in directly… I just set the hanging pot in the wire basket and fill in around a bit… no transplant shock that way… anyhow we got some up on the deck now… as well as the humming bird feeder… waiting on the first visits…
We got all that home and I did get the peppers in and cleaned out the south bed… and some of the north bed… by then it was lunch time so we went in to the Blazathon…as mentioned yesterday… the meal was ok… not great bar-b-que as it was done by the Elks and not the contestants… and pieces were good and pieces were bad… but the money goes for a good cause… We got there about 1:30 and a lot of the contestants were putting things up… we should have browsed around in the morning… but that is ok… I got a big plate…
and ate it all… ribs, pulled pork, and sausage… Sherrie got some chicken and said it was pretty good but her pork was not… oh well…
After eating we made a walk around to just look at some of the contestants and where they were from… and I guess this guy is right?
After that we got back home and I finished up the planting and pots…

As I was finishing up and let the dogs out… something big took off from the pond and landed in a tree on the other side… hum… white head….hummm so got the binoculars and yep… Eagle! So yelled for Sherrie to get up and ran to get the better camera… got out and that bird was eating one of our fish…
not bad a shot for a digital, and 50x zoom… but I was shaking pretty hard so went and got the tripod… the pictures weren’t a lot better but I got more of them…
Three of my better… I got 50 pictures of this bird… and it sure enjoyed our fish… when it took off, It was met by another one… so the pair is in the area? either at Lake Carl Blackwell or maybe up at Sooner lake… we know there is a nest or so up there that is monitored… I have seen some around before but never in our own back yard…
The evening was spent going to early Easter service to avoid the crowd tomorrow… and ice cream… What a great day… the temps came back up… the wind was down… and the sun was out… and we have flowers on the deck… now for the tiny birds to get back…
