Volunteer–Crafts

Haven’t gotten much done… working in the shop on some can bird tests… not turning out too good yet, need smaller craft wire for some of the parts?  I‘ll get it eventually… It has been off and on rain or cloudy or ? just not good to get out in… Unless you’re a bird??/

Royal Blue , we have several nesting pairs of the blue birds here… they have been successful at fending off the sparrows … so far..

This one hung around for awhile… see it was dripping when I captured a pic of him…

I did get to my workout Friday morning and did some chasing of logo items for the local ham club… but that was about it… Today was the busy day… up early and off to do our volunteer work… I got volunteered to help with the Remember the 10 run… we were assigned a water station out front of Hideaway… interesting that we got to see the “Fun Run” and then the halfway of the 10K… glad I wasn’t in that…

Here they come, the fun running crowd… I might be able to walk that course… and amazed that some people will do it even with a broken foot…

but that is kin of like using a skate board???

It was some time before the other group (10K) got around to us as they started a little later and our point was 5k into the course…

A few of them took it pretty serious and were way out in front…

Once this was done we made it top the 40% off sale at the store in the stadium… I got a couple of new Tshirts… Sherrie got a new sweatshirt… not much in excitement but they were also having a tag sale???

in the practice gym… all the collected – excess equipment from nearly all the sports… some real nice jackets(soccer) and shorts,, shoes, football stuff, etc.… so we went in and it was an absolute madhouse… pick, paw, and shove and out… whew… Sherrie did find a pair of shoes that fit her… I got some BB game shorts- of the right size and gave up on the fight and paid and left… when we got out of that, well, why not hit the craft show downtown ??? it looked like rain so we figured it wouldn’t be too crowded… this year they had moved it off main street to the street just wests… I think it is a better spot but the street is in need of much repair??? And about half way through it did come a rain… pretty hard for 10 minutes or so… every one huddled under some of the show tents or rushed back to cars (and got wet)… till it was over then there was a river down the street right at the point of getting into some of the artists places… but not horrible…

Lot of the same stuff we see nearly every year… but each year we might see a few things with a different twist… horns on the pottery?

IMG_3030

lots of wooden wears…

This guy was pretty ingenious… a use for old wine bottles to make a peacock… and he had a lot of old gear stuff welded to make animals, bugs, etc.… pretty neat use of junk…

The usual iron works with OSU and western stuff…

IMG_3037

A guy that makes and plays flutes… all native music… I bought a couple of his flute CD’s… good stuff, most of it, for calming and going to sleep… ha!

After that we went and stood in line for 25 minutes to get a 5 minute pizza at pie 5… good pizza but the standing wait it pretty tough…

We got home and I did a little this and little that and read the paper and emails and waited for the big storms to happen…

Got a picture of this one going up but it was already past us… it clouded up but at the time of writing, nothing here… in the warning but nothing going on…

Couldn’t come up with anything great for dinner so I just got out hotdogs and chili for the topping… but finished it up with some strawberries and ice cream…

setting on the back deck, watching and waiting for some rain… but was nice and quiet outside…, no constant drone by a TV weatherman… I like it that way…

I went back and tried another can bird… still haven’t figured out how to do the wire for the wings so it looks ok?  tested straight through but can’t hold it in place, so tried some bends in the middle , it will hold but doesn’t look great?  first one I did had separate wires with end loops to staple in and they were ok but still a bit awkward… figure that if I get the smaller wire it might be easier to handle… since the stuff I had was pretty hard, even though it is small in size I think it was stainless steel from something I got a real long time ago… so once I get the smaller wire will cut out a few more and test the wing setup a few more times…

I am trying to get something like this..

SAM_2264

but mine have too big of wire, are a little miss-aligned… but not bad… just think they could be a lot smoother…once I get some of these done… the I have a couple of other things to work on…

just a busy day and we didn’t accomplish much of anything… great !  huh?
