Fix This – and 3 times too close…

Today was a busy day like the past 3 or 4… Finally got the Jeep fixed.  The shop had it since Tuesday Morning on a one day job?  Had to have the clutch/ bearing on the pulley changed for the air conditioner compressor… it was squalling real bad.  and it had developed an exhaust leak in the manifold.  Should be simple fixes… not!.

They ordered the exhaust header and the truck delivering it from OKC broke down and didn’t make it Tuesday.  At the same time the ordered the pulley swap and was ready to make that change.  but with the delay in the header they waited to do the pulley.  Once they got the exhaust header on Early Wednesday morning the started to  pull the pulley off and somehow broke a connections on the compressor so they had to change it completely out.  They ordered the compressor and … Damn it was not the right one for replacement.  They called several times and checked all the books ans seems I have a compressor that was originally for a 4-cylinder engine and mine is the 6?  So they ordered another one and it had the wrong mounts on it?  Several calls later they ordered one for the 4 that looked right but again coming from OKC… Got in later afternoon and they got the repair done by 4pm.    Simple deal took 3 days and several changes to find the right stuff.  In the interim I was delivery driver for wife to work so I could have transport to take care of my stuff.

I got the parts I ordered for the repair of the RV antenna and upgrade for better DTV reception.  my repair went rather well (so far).  Replaced the raising gear that had cracked and put on the “Wingman” addition to get better DTV reception.

When all goes well it now has the little addition with the extra elements on the front... and works!

Ok, that worked and pulled out and tested it.  It now gets all the OKC Channels when before it only got some and the signal is real good for all of them.  Actually it is better than the antenna (with out amp) that I have at 40 feet on my tower?  and it has more elements.  OH well.    In he background you can see a couple of my Ham Antennas and portions of my weather station (wind and rain) on the peak of the “unattached garage”.

Now of the other part of my title… 3 times today I almost got backed into?  3 times in one day… I can not believe one of them didn’t actually whack me (in my wifes car to boot)…

One in the Walmart parking lot.  I got in the car had backed out, looking in all direction… then when I get 2/3 of the way out, I look over to my left and with in inches (maybe less) was a black mustang backing out.  It would have hit me square in the side doors… We both pull back in and I proceed to clean out my shorts while the other car immediate backs out even faster and leaves as quick as possible…

Two – as I go to pay for the repair on the jeep, before I go to pick up the wife, some guy (one of their customers) is backing across the parking area at the shop… I am trying to back into a parking spot to get out-of-the-way and he just backs right on past my front bumper by “inches” never even saw me.  I know the car is white but geeeeeez… look both ways fella…

Three – as I get to the university to pick up wife I pull into wrong lot, call and guess what, she is on the other side so I am trying to circle that lot to get out and, of course it is quitting time , and everyone is in a hurry to get out… a big black pickup is backing out as I am coming through the parking lot… he is looking at me but keeps back in up in front of me, knowing I will flinch before he does… but that was only down to the last foot when I stopped and just sat there till he maneuvered to get out around me and several others…

So I guess I was real lucky today , could have been whacked 3 times but managed to escape with no bruises… would hate to explain to wife how her car got hit…

I decided it was time to have two glasses of wine tonight… need the smoothing from that more than usual.
