Update on activity–not fun

Well, it has been a few days and I am just now trying to catch up on what has happened.  First I got home Wednesday on time but not with out some extra hassle… all work and support failure items that need to be put here but suffice to say that it is a bad idea to trust your well being to others that really don‘t care.

I spent Thursday and most of Friday working on the finish to my taxes.  That is a big hassle and a real pain in the “you know where”.  If the government could make it just a little more complicated to figure out there would be fewer actually paying taxes that do now.  On that note – in my reading and posting previously it is published that only 48% +/- pay taxes in the great country.  The rest are either too rich and have all the loop-holes or too poor and get all the benefits of not working.  The rest of us pay up to take care of those that don’t.   Check these links:

Not sure I really care for Rush but he does his homework.

On Saturday I was going to do several things – ended up doing nothing –much.  I did work on the security cams.  I had put up a new one for the front drive that was supposed to have “night vision” well that didn’t turn out as good as I had hoped but it is a bit more “outdoor” sturdy so it will now watch the front.  I still have a PTZ model to put up somewhere but haven’t made a decision on that one yet.  Then it was a problem of finding software that would monitor all of them.  The originals were all D-link and the free software D-VIEWCAM worked well for that but when I add a Foscam to the mix , I find there is no way to get the Dlink software to see the Foscam camera.  I started a search to get some software that was easy to set up, easy to use and would record motion on all the cameras.  I finally came up with one called H264Webcam.  It is easy to set up, has some good controls for motion and other items and was not overly expensive for what I wanted.  So far it appears to be working out well.  A little more time will tell as I am still working on the motion sensitivity to cut out a few more of the false reads.  I also worked on the hosting page a little – My Web-Cams

I had hoped to be hamming this weekend but that is not in the cards.  I also had hoped that it would be warm and I would get a few things done outside and that too has been a bust.

Sunday we made a trip to Dads and loaded up a lot of the Jun-q-eee that he wants us to take away – some antiques but mostly stuff he has no use for as he is now moving to an apartment where he has more people looking out for him and can get help when he needs it, as opposed to living along in a house that he does not have the ability or time to maintain, clean and upkeep.  We all pushed him to this and I know he is not as happy about it as we are but it is necessary after the few episodes of total confusion he had last fall.  He will have a 1 bedroom apartment that is actually pretty nice and the place supplies him two meals a day and activities all the time to keep him busy both mentally and physically.  He had us all there for lunch Sunday, even though he has not officially moved in.  At the meal he and we find out that there are several people there that he knows and has known for a very long time (men) so he will at least have friends to talk with.  It will help us to know he is doing a little more socially than he had gotten into the past 2 years in the house.  He got out but only to go to the store, or get something to eat and seldom went to do real social visiting so he was getting “brain stall” from all that TV mind numbing stuff. I will have more trips this week to help get the rest of his move done.

Today was another numbing day.  I spent the morning catching up on my Dr. visits and other things necessary (fortunate at this point no skin cancers) – mailing off tax papers, picking up meds, calls about what we need for Dads new apartment, and a few other things in the morning, then all afternoon trying to get my own financial stuff caught up.   Having been gone for 5 weeks there was a lot of stuff to get in the tracking software and smooth out the bills for a few more weeks.  I really need to work on a budget and stick to it so we can get in practice when I am not working anymore.  That may be sooner than we think.   Tomorrow will be another day!
