It was a damn early day today… for when I am off that is. Had to have the wife’s car down for the periodic maintenance (oil, filter, etc.) and we had gotten an email reminding us of that fact with a discount for a 4 wheel alignment as well so figured to get it all done. Especially since a little over a month ago I hit that ???? unknown and ruined a tire. Should have had it done earlier but time got away. I was there before 7:00 AM and was first in. So they got me out pretty quickly and was back on the move by 8:45.
Next stop the bank. We had some deposits, couple of $3 checks and one for my Dad on one of his dividends. That went a lot smoother than I figured since I was depositing for him but with the account number and I guess my name is on the account so it just went in fine…
Next stop was the Hospital to work out a billing error they had… I say they had but all truth be known it was the bank that was suppose to pay them. See I set up my Dads stuff to pay from his bank through “bill-pay” and they have had some issues lately and ours was one of the issues… seems they issued a check then decided that it was not right so put a stop payment on it and issued another check by hand. Once I get to the hospital I find that billing is done at an office down town…? ok… so I have to go down there and do the asking again to find out why they charged me a “return check fee” when they actually got paid twice but one had a stop payment on it? They did some checking and agreed that it was not really a “returned check” issues and they would clear that off the bill. Still confused on how it all works? Me too? Seems no one really checks this stuff they are entry and punch buttons types these days… what ever the computer says, that must be right.
Next I had to mail off to QSL cards to guys that are wanting to collect counties. One was from way back in 2009 but I checked the log and it was there. Got those shipped out and decided to swap out the car for the jeep – you know make the wife happy to drive her own car home from work. I then went up to the big WALLS bargain center in search of another small hard case for my reading glasses… they didn’t have one so I purchased some AA batteries in stead. Hell you gotta buy something and they were just $3.97 for 8 and I need some for the camera. leaving Walls big bargain bin I went to the nearest “Dollar General” in search of the glass case… they did have it either but in my browsing mode I spotted this rack…
Seems the other university stuff is not moving as fast as it once did? Or is it that they stock up on what the normal clientele will buy? I can’t answer that but it seemed odd that 90% of the stuff was red and not orange and being in Stillwater of all places? Oh well they will for sure be Spring practice National Champs again and this stuff will start moving off the shelf this spring.
After that stop I went to get gas for the jeep as I figured I would be headed out to Enid then OKC tomorrow. Need to go check Dads place for some things and then to OKC to pick up a Hearing Aid Bluetooth adapter that I lost last week…
Picked up wife at 12:30 and we were off to lunch – nothing to brag about there, another visit to Taco Bueno for the cheaps and heartburn… ha! Got home and figured that if I am real busy tomorrow I better get the road batteries taken out of the motor home so I can have them checked and probably replace both as they are not holding a charge. Hey I haven’t done anything to to them since 2005 so I guess it may be time to swap them out. wish the house batteries would last that long. I got them pulled out and while under the raised compartment door I filled the others with water…sure like that PRO-FILL system.
I used to struggle with those batteries as they are way too high in the compartment, the slide does not come out far enough and you can’t see down in those filler holes with out a special mechanics folded mirror… yes I have one of those too. But the Pro-Fill is so easy – hook up the bulb, put the tube in the distilled water and squeeze till it stops… nice and easy. The hard part is remembering I need to do that every month or two when charging those batteries as they will boil water out, no matter what everyone else says…
The batteries are out in battery boxes ready to be taken to the auto parts store for checking. I had hoped to get the new Astro Pneumatic gauge
hooked up as well, but I didn’t order the quick chucks for it and I only had one in the bag so when I get to the parts store will pick up another chuck for the end to hook up to the hose. That all said, I think both of these should be added to the post from Greg White about RV-Gizmos and Gadgets. One thing for sure if you have an RV with tires and batteries you probably should think about getting both of these to save you some time and effort.
After these efforts the electrician showed up to put in the timer switches we had ordered over a month ago. We had to have some re-wiring done in the house to move a light and drop a line into a closet we had stupidly not put a light in. During that exercise we decided to have timer switches put in as some of our family has a problem of turning things off and the timer switch will make it a bit more automatic. We got those two put in, nice gadgets that have a series of setting for time to remain on but one of them did not want to work with the small circular fluorescent light? So I had to change out the bulb. Damn those florescent lights are a bit temperamental when it comes to electronic switches. I have had problem before with them working on some X-10 timers and controls as well… not sure what causes that but they sure do throw fits at times…
The finish of my day was a call that my little Bluetooth thingy did not come in and so I will not be making the trip to OKC tomorrow. That is OK… I wasn’t in a hurry anyway.
Here it is the dark, late, and I sure wanted a nap today but it just didn’t happen. You know a raining day is really good for naps but for some stupid reason I got myself all busy today and missed out… I guess there will be other days? – WD0AJG
