On a recent trip I had the occasion to spot this long lost symbol of many years ago. Compared to the “Quick Trip” or “Beep and Bitch” self-service stations of today this was really something. From these small stations you got service , tires, and maybe oil-changes and other things – possibly even the rest room was clean… Many entrepreneurs made a living doing these simple things. I don’t think it is possible today as we have pushed for cheaper and cheaper STUFF so the margin of profit is way too low for a single guy to make it… still interesting though. Wish the sign was still there to see who actually supplied the fuel… the color makes me think it was a Shamrock or “Dino” station?
