Well I have spent the last couple of days working on my taxes. All I can think about is that old saying of “there is nothing more sure than Death and Taxes”… I say “there is nothing more sure than Taxes will be Death of us”… What an absolute mess they have become. The “less well off” people have no idea how to take advantage of all the loopholes and work a rounds… the middle of the “road bunch” (I think I may be in this group), can’t find enough of those advantages to not pay more than our fair share… The well off (those that can hire specialists) get to take advantage of most of the good loopholes… and the politicians keep getting paid for every new wrinkle they can put in the code to make it more difficult so that only they know where all the holes are…
I just hate this time of year, waiting for all those damn forms to come in and getting it all put together, then sweating blood while I figure out if I get by on what they already took out or if I have to add to it. Sure would like to go in knowing what the tax is and that it is charged on what I buy up front and not have to worry about all these other things… oh well, do not figure to see that happen in my lifetime…
