I sat here today, doing very little other than getting ready for my trip to Houston next week… well I did work on a few things but early in the day I was enjoying the cool on the back deck and just watching the birds and , GOD FORBID, thinking about past and present and possible future (retirement)…. while reading a few things I came across this and it really did make me feel older… duh!..

I finally got some initiative to do other stuff this afternoon and made a trip to town. Picked up a repair for the closet doors., They needed a new insert on the bottom to adjust them up so the center alignment tabs would not hit. I to that part, came home and started work on putting it in. Had to drill out the hole a little and tap in the insert… got it all together but was a bit tight… then to adjust the screw… got that started and while I was looking at the pair of doors I saw that the other one needed to be adjusted down a little and the top, spring loaded, pin was not working properly… well in the process of trying to move it down and the pin not springing back up like it should… Wham, the door fell. It fell on the side with the doorknob and the hanger hook on the top… well that punched holes in the door and ruined it… so now… I guess… I will get to replace it… some days things just do not go well the $3.52 part ended up costing me a new door… and it wasn’t even the same door the part went on…
I almost swore off anymore projects but then decided it was like a bicycle… I better get back up on it or would not do anything for a long time… so I got right on the project to cut a piece of “round” sheetrock to fill the hole from when we moved the light over the center of the makeup mirror from being off to the side… it just never looked right way off to the left side and I had an electrician move it back last February… well they don’t fix things they just move the wires… crap I could have done that… However I did get the round piece cut out and smoothed up and have a piece of paint stick to put on the back, now to get the front part ready so I can glue it in and hold it in place then I can put a little spackling on it and be ready to paint and that hole will be filled… I hope to have that in place tomorrow? will see how that goes…
I had also done a little electronic repair of my daughters gate opener… the power wires had pulled off the circuit board… that repair just required using the holding device and soldering the wired back in place… I got that done but found out my good solder iron has died… the price of a replacement iron is about as much as buying a new set, so I guess I will get a new set… fortunately I had a back up iron in my tool box so I was able to use it but I miss the better iron with the smaller tips…
I think I will go to bed now before something else goes wrong or falls apart…
