It has been nice and not so nice the past few days… just got used to warmer weather over the weekend and did some outside projects and a little maintenance on motorhome. It was not as warm yesterday as Saturday and Sunday but still was in the 70’s so I made a run to Lowes and picked up some parts to make sun screens for the back porch.
My project was to replace some old bamboo screens with some fabric sun screens and hope they would be a little more “resilient”… the bamboo caught up in every storm and even though they served rather well, they had a short life…
The old bamboo screens… they were some deeply on sale items so that is why the kids got them and put them up…
The replacement fabric sun screens? Not sure if they will last longer or be any better but worth a try… These I can pull up under the deck if we need to store them out of the way and let the sun shine in?
I built the frames from plastic conduit (UV protected plastic pipe). The material came in 6ft by 40ft rolls so I made the frame just 6 ft. tall and split them so that two covered the near 10 foot spacing between the posts. We will test these out for a few weeks and if they hold up for the spring weather… will make 4 more to cover the remaining area that is not shaded by the Oak trees.
While I was out on the back porch I spotted this visitor… not sure if it came from somewhere on it’s own or came out of the screen bags?
He was not able to fly and just fluttered about.
Got all that done yesterday along with a few other small things, like flagging the redbuds so maybe I wont get too crazy and cut them all out when I get back to clearing the thorn vines from down below…
Today… it was 50 when I got up and then never got over that all day… Seems it is easy for me to get cold these days so I didn’t get anymore than raking out some grass cuttings from the front fountain area and moving it to the center island for mulch. So that was it for the past couple of days…
