This is another one of those places that requires us to have “special” certifications. Everywhere we go we are required to take the local, “special” certification for something and most of it is not worth the effort. Last night was another of those last minute things we had to do… I had to have a “rig pass” certification and they had an online course for it… we were told it would only take and hour to get through it… LIES… It was set up so that you had to do every step, you couldn’t just take the final test or the chapter test, but you had to open every piece of the training before you could access the next… Even just opening them, and wait 5 seconds and moving on took me 2.5 hours to complete the course and take the final test.. Luckily I passed.
Today in discussions we are told that the real course is 2 days in front of an instructor so I am sure they tried to make the online course a full day if you actually did all the videos and reading it took…
Well, I am wondering if this will be just like the last one I took – 3 days of offshore survival, Helicopter crash survival, and, training and we never got to go offshore. never really left the facility in the last one?
I think I am one of the most trained idiots out here and carry more certifications cards than are useful… sure hope I don’t have to take many more…
Today was just a work day… although this evening we went out to dinner at a “traditional” restaurant near the hotel… I don’t care for the traditional southern Mexican… lots of soups, and stuff you can’t really identify and not much taste or a lot of bad taste…
The better part of the evening was the walk over…
