Since it was a Sunday we took the day to start late, make a short tour of downtown… and check on some shopping. The shopping was ok for me but a failure for our friend from Columbia… he wanted a Serape for his father… this is an example of what he was looking for.
Unfortunately this area of Mexico is not generally familiar with this type and we had no luck in finding one… they are more common in the north and west ranch areas…
We did find many other things…
The Central Cathedral… massive place! no we didn’t stop and it was Sunday morning so I am sure they were ready or having Mass?
This really unusually painted water tower? the small things are birds painted in… there were several of these around and many more not painted…
also they were a different shape like flying saucer…
A few more statues in the center of the roads…
A lot, as you can see, had water features…
people in the middle of intersections trying to make a “peso” by doing things you don’t see all the time… and some selling papers, food, and washing windows…
places to eat… (my opinion of raw food or rather what it will lead to)….
And several Damn big Malls…
of course we had to go to one… not my choice. One of the guys saw a sign for Fuddruckers burgers and just had to go there… when we could have had a variety of local stuff downtown… I was up for the Quesadilla bar or maybe a taco stand but they were intent on “Muy Grande” Burgers… Anyway we got to this Mall that had the Fuddruckers and had to cross back to the food area…
See how they keep the kids happy?
These animals are bounce and go things… the kids bounce up and down and they roll across the floor… of course they are rental units…
and a kid train runs through the mall…!
After gorging on the burger… I had the smaller one they make and was still stuffed… we headed back to the hotel… I found that there is a supermarket on the other side of the park I had been in and wrote about yesterday so I made a trip that way… figured a walk would do me good… when I got there, maybe 6 or 8 blocks from the hotel… I find there is a “Galleria” mall on the other side… so I slipped in there before I went into the supermarket… this Galleria actually crosses over the road…
Taken from the food court windows in the middle of the mall over the road…. way off in the distant you can see the very small spires of the Cathedral we were by earlier… in the very middle of the picture… hey, between the big buildings… !
Ok, if I zoom in you can see what they are…
I also took several pictures of flowers in the park on the way but I have shown some of similar ones before but this was from a tree…
I actually walked for about 2 hours… stopped for a brief bit to get pictures and shop at a local artisan shop and picked up some FUZE tea for later… then back to the hotel…
At 6pm we went out to eat dinner… guess where they wanted to go… Chili’s… I had a salad this time… Caribbean chicken salad… with a margarita… !
And that ends the “free” day we had… tomorrow back to working on the reports… checking our details and ? and yes it was another very hot day… mostly very humid…
