Yesterday was a “reasonably” nice day… I say that because , even though it got up into the 70’s (my favorite temps)… the wind was blowing so hard you had to hang on to everything… I mean it was blowing hard and out of the west of all places… when it blows from the west our back deck is a direct hit… Hell, I had to chase down the grill cover 3 times yesterday and once I found it in the front yard (which is on the opposite side of the house)? now that is a strong wind to blow it off the grill and then around or over the house?
the last time I caught it and put it back on it promptly was blown off but stuck on the back side of the grill so I just left it there…
the first time I caught it in the front yard I checked the wind vane and meter and yep it was really spinning
I then checked the trees…
That pine on the right actually leans the other way when it is not this windy…
I did get out and do a little yard work… in the protected area down below the grills, where I am putting a raised bed area for growing some stuff? not sure what yet, but probably some peppers and maybe tomatoes… not a huge bed but enough for a couple of each plants… but now I have to go get some topsoil to fill it… just more work… I also made a few radio contacts later in the day as well… still working on those Worked All States for the HF bands… 2 done, 7 more that I want to fill out… just a goal that can keep me busy for a long time…
Last night we ended up having some more of the “pulled pork ribs”… in sandwiches… pretty good that way too… now I am thinking about what next to cook up? I would do drumsticks but neither of us really like drumsticks so guess that is “semi” out… ended up that we need to clear out some stuff done before so we will have to eat up some lemon-pepper chicken breasts tonight?…
Today it turned off cold , agn… at none it was just barely mid 40’s and since it was mid 70’s yesterday I didn’t get out and do any yard work… and I really need to get that tall grass (see in photo above) trimmed down… I have those and 6 more at the front porch that all need to be cut off to near ground level so we start fresh for the summer… one thing I did see yesterday, and surprised that they could even get close, were two Purple Martins in the area checking out the houses I have… but with the wind they never landed… the house was moving too much… ha!… so guess I need to make sure the houses are cleaned out and ready… next will be the Hummers coming back… in fact in the maps it appears they may be here this week???
Got to get the feeders out this weekend…
