Hoarder gone wild…

It was another great day.  TrulyTruely , the wind didn’t blow too much and it was nice and not too hot and not cold…

Remember the post about hauling off some drift wood?  well the place I got permission to dump is a neighbor and she came yesterday and asked if I would come over early today and help with the “fire” disposal of that pile… The work was to start at about 8am.  I got there a bit early and some other folks showed that were also on “fire watch” and we set the pile a blaze.  It was a pretty slow start but once it got going it burned pretty hot and since the old wood was really dry it burned down pretty quick.  No pictures of that as I just was too busy making sure the fire stayed where it was supposed to until it got down to a more controllable level and that only took about an hour.  Once that little chore was done I came home and finished up on the shop computer.  I had started a “restore” last night from a backup image.  This restore was to a new drive as the old one was 5 years old and getting really slow and sometimes made a little noise?  So afraid that it was about to die  I wanted to get the bigger drive in that I Had bought for it over a year ago.  The windows restore worked great, the drive had restarted and was running fine, then to get the old drive put in as the second drive and start saving the security video to it.  That process took some effort and some study as I am not a seasoned IT person so I had to do some reading and searching for a few minor problems with it but got it all done, new drive expanded to full capacity use, old drive put in as backup and reformated and then set up so the video stuff is stored over there.  The new drive is substantially faster, and doesn’t make the noise, although the old drive tested out ok?

Unfortunately , like all computer deals, it had a few hiccups… some how all the settings for my Signalink USB got swapped out and I was not able to get it on the air?  fumbled with that for some time and found it had swapped out the thing for the regular speakers… and that don’t work well.  Anyway got that back in place and figured if I was doing so well I should get on the old laptop and fix it.  I have a really old Dell that has Windows XP on it and I had put a new HD in it 2 years ago and never got the XP back on it so it was not working.  I got the XP on but it would not  link to network…missing drivers for the network cards… so quick search of Dell and found the drivers and got about all that I thought I would need and installed them on the laptop… as I installed thing stared to “fix” and golly gosh, it is now working and on the network… so my day was fairly productive for a change.

Earlier in the day I captured a few photos

Spring time… lots of things flowering out.

This evening I started the process of purging some old documents… I have been a hoarder of old tax records and now I am getting rid of some… Guess the fire thing this morning pushed me over the edge?

I figure I should use that new fire pit I bought anyway… wasn’t too bad… but only got one box of old records disposed… I think I may still have several more hidden away… My goal is to cut about 1/3 of all the stuff we have been collecting and saving for the past 30 years out by giving away, selling or burning… It is amazing how much stuff you collect with out realizing you really didn’t need it and the want died pretty quick as well?  We also save stuff way longer than you need to (Tax records).  Threw in a few small pieces of old Pine logs the kids drug home 2 years ago and that made it smell a little better… Enjoyed this until way after dark tonight…
