One of those great days… sun was out, well not at first it was a bit cold and foggy but that cleared pretty quick. I got around at the usual time and figured I should get in another walk this week.. so laced up my walking shoes (same damn shoes I wear all the time). and headed out… got in a bit over 3 miles, but I hate that last mile… it fits the old story of uphill both ways… pretty steep climb on that the last leg to get over a hump and then about a 1/4 mile of decently flat to gentle down… but by the time I get that 1/2 mile in before that I am puffing pretty hard. I had to set a spell to get evened out then went to the shop and put a coat of sealer on the closet doors… figure I have put on all the stain they are going to take. I have worked a bit every day on them and the original sealer sure soaked in as I have not been able to get them near dark enough to match the other doors but they are pretty close now… once I get them up will be able to really see how close? if not enough I can always buy some more new and then they should match a bit closer… once finished…
They need to be bugged some and put on another coat of Poly and then buff a little more to make sure they are smooth… also have to do the other side sealing as well.
I went in to town for lunch and we made our stop at Arby’s today… we are fastfood freaks , but when you have an hour for lunch ? you just rotate to where you have coupons for discounts… I am on a fixed income now remember…
After lunch I got home and figured it was time to start the motor home and pull it out, check the air conditioner as I has put Freon in it last time out and wanted to make sure it had not leaked out… I made my inspection and found that a bunch of crap had fallen , again, from the back shelves… You see I did a real poor job of putting them up way back when… I just put up some short pieces of 2/4 with screws but no bracing… I was in a hurry and figured I would get back to it… well today I had to get back to it… as that crap had fallen for about the 3 rd time in the last year or so. In the hauling and picking trough before I could even pull the motor home out I got rid of these boxes… or will..
and a bunch more stuff is setting in the “haul to donation” pile as well as a few things were separated out for deliver to kid pile… I will have to cut up the cardboard boxes to get them hauled off or ? haul them myself next week? not sure but they are leaving… I got the motor home out… and found the front tire is still leaking slowly? it has had that leak some time and I swapped out the extension to see if it was causing it so now I am leaving off the sensor to see if it has a leak? if it still runs down over the next few weeks then it may actually be the tire? It is things like that which make me glad I got the TPMS and watch it pretty close as well as hooked up a hose and got a digital gauge to check my tires with…
Once I got the unit out and let it run awhile it was a good time to fix those shelves… and sift through some junk… so I did and the shelves are not braced and hopefully won’t spill out so much now… and I have a lot less stuff to keep up there…
In the front of this are a bunch of “special” pop cans for airplanes, (like the ones hanging)… cans I brought back from Algeria over so many years and some others that we saved to use.. the coke cans are Christmas cans… I just need to get on the projects and build a few more planes.
I know it still looks like a lot but it is about 35% less at this point and several of those things will get hauled off when I get a load together.
Once the shelves were done I got all my tools put up and backed the motor home back into its spot… wish it was out on the road and me in it but just too much happening to allow that yet.
My next project was to fix the handle on my grill, planned to use it tonight. The old handle on the grill broke? not sure why but one of the screws popped off and they are not replaceable other than a new handle… so I had called and they sent me one free… guess I was still under warranty…
This was my temporary solution. but I needed a hot pad to grab it…
This is the fixed handle… it is all shinny and the grill, needs a wash job?
Once I got this fixed I stopped and had a beer and watched a couple of geese come up on the dam on my side of the pond… too slow to get the camera… they had a single partner with them, suspect he or she is missing a mate so it is a three-some…
For dinner I had marinated some HOT! Italian sausages with onions and peppers in a wine /oil/seasoning marinade all day… not too bad and the sausages ended up kind of hot but not too bad… had mine with some Beaver Honey Mustard and they were pretty good… I cooked enough so we can have them again later next week…
They are so big you really need to split them to ever fit them on a bun, unless you buy hoagie buns and then you got too much to eat anyway…
since I didn’t post yesterday I have a few pictures of my checking the trees in our yard… I have a Japanese pine that is going wild this year with blooms, cones and ?
It has these all over the tree, in the background you can see them… and the tree is not maybe 9 feet tall so far?
Our little redbud was pretty this year…
So that was the day today… and yesterday was similar just different… ha!…
It is hard to tell when your retired and you have so many things to get done…
