More from “it’s exciting for me”

Well, things are progressing about the same here in the RETIRED front.  I have stayed pretty busy doing things that are plain, easy and what I wanted to do… Isn’t that what retirement is about?  In reality I don’t like cleaning but I have ignored it for so long that I have “CRAP” everywhere that really needs to be hauled off and so… I am working on the separation and hauling as well as locating things that I had put back for special projects and I now put them in storage areas so when I get to that project most of what is needed for it will be in one spot.  Having moved stuff around and around for years a lot of things have been lost that are now being found.  Case in point… I had purchased a block heater back when I needed it but then it got warm and then we moved and I never got it installed so it was placed in a box then in a drawer then ???? and Friday, I found it in my cleaning… this time it went into the box of stuff that will be shipped or carried off to Colorado for the kids to use or ? not?

The project Friday started here… that corner was just filled with stuff… I know it is not noticeable but the other side has been reduced a lot already but more will come out around that big black box… Anyway, I got into that corner for the first time in maybe 3 years and emptied that set of shelves, threw out maybe 20%, boxed up another 1/3 to give away and located some things I had forgotten I had… Some of that stuff that irks you when you find it… Here is the story… I know I have paint brushes and paint sponges but I needed some and couldn’t find any when I was doing the closet doors…at least none that were useable… so I bought some.  They weren’t expensive maybe 4 or 5 dollars but I knew I had some somewhere or at least I thought I did… In the cleaning I found that I had twice as many as I remembered and about double that in those that really should have been thrown out a long time ago… now they are in the trash, the excess new is in the give away box and the good are in a unused tool box found on that set of shelves…

Then it evolved to this… the box in the front is a give away box stuff that will be donated to Habitat for Humanity as they generally can use most of what is in there…

This is where it got to… turned the shelves, hauled off a lot of stuff, put some back on the shelves and they are not near as full now either… It will even git better when I haul off the pickup load on the right.  Next up , I hpe to  thin out the office/Ham shop in the back and get rid of about 1/3 of that on the first to through…

I also fixed that sweeper in the middle friday… it was a new one bought in about October and the beater quit.  I called Eureka about it and they just sent a new one, complete sweeper… but I thought that the unit was not old enough to just toss it out so I sid my research and found the repair part for it, ordered it and fixed it in about 20 minutes Friday evening – on the cleaned out shop area…

The replacement part was about $25 and that included shipping and now.. the beater bar works fine so we have two of these units… will need to give this one to someone?

In the process of doing all that and setting on the floor fixing the sweeper and splitting out all the nails, screws and stuff and getting them in visible containers I strained my back again so I did’t sleep much at all last night… in fact I had to get back up at 3:30AM due to the aches and pains… took several pain pills and since not sleeping I went out to play on the radio.. It is damn quiet on the bands here at 4AM… had hoped to catch someone on 160 meters but only one op there so didn’t pick up any of the 9 remaining states I need for WAS (Worked All States) on that band…

After Sherrie got up and we determined we needed to hit the Farmers Market and pick up our vegetable plant for the raised bed… In the process , of course, there were a lot of nice flowers and this one was interesting.. not sure what it was but pretty and my picture was not very good.

We got the vegetable plants and some flowers and also bought some fresh Asparagus for a meal later on.  On the way home we picked up some 2 for 5 sandwiches at Arby’s and that was lunch… then to the planting..

and fixing the drip system to water it as well

While at Lowes picking up plants I spotted this sticker and figured my kids would like it… although both my kids are NATIVE’s I guess the wife and I fit as the getting there as fast as we could… back when…

The other day I said was trying to shoot the state bird… well I got one… he was still way far off but set long enough for a picture… I spotted him doing dive bomb runs into the pond this evening… he was taking a bath… hit the water then fly up to this limb and ruffle and shake then do it again… I missed the action shots and will have to concentrate on getting some of those as a lot of the birds are doing it.

To end this, I have a question… how many people let their dog eat the easter candy? …

At least I think it was something red or pink from the east egg?? Maybe this dog though he was an Easter Bunny?
