Well my focus this weekend was to get something done… but other stuff got in the way…
I got up early (not too early but same old time for me) and got out to do a few little things… had a little juice and then worked on some radio stuff… went over some equipment plans and decided to get two big boxes of old stuff gone through and throw out as much as possible… so I started the filter through, finding that I had a lot of paper work from years ago when they put you SS number on everything so I am going to have to burn or shred that stuff… so the process was slower than I had figured. making sure that the recycle bin didn’t get anything with numbers,names or other stuff on it… just in case… I put in a little time on that and then moved on to something else… my focus changed… I can do that now that I am retired…
We decided we needed to get out for a really late breakfast or early lunch? so got things around and headed to town… while in town we had to stop by a “Dollar General” store… this one is in a mall area that is pretty much defunct… only other stores are a furniture store and a Bargain store in a place that could hole 20 stores… Anyway the clientele at this store are ….. well kind of like the east Walmart clientele… I waited outside while Sherrie checked on some stuff…
Of all the cars coming and going… this one was in the best shape other than me… so far my jeep has no dings… I saw tattoo’s and stuff that , well… was afraid to take the pictures cause they could beat me up and that was the women…
Well you would know that Sherrie found what she was looking for but then determined that she had a coupon to get another $5 off but didn’t have it with her… damn… so we started to head home and then she figured she could look it up online on her phone so back we went and she used her coupon on her phone but there was a limit…or something so I had to go in to get the rest of the stuff she wanted and then we had to get a coupon on my phone but we got the stuff and on the way out, what did I see?????
DING-DONGS… one of my favorites that I though had been gone… you know the company sold out or sent broke and they quit making them for awhile but now… I know that DG has Ding-Dongs and I will have to make a run once a month when I get my well-fair check to get me some Ding Dongs… we got a box to bring home and I have yet to get in them… saving them for special… although Sherrie broke in to them already…
Today I got up early again, Sherrie wasn’t budging…? later she told me that she had to get up at midnight to take care of the dogs and then couldn’t get back to sleep… strange with the hearing aids out… I never noticed they were barking? Anyway I got up and had some juice and my saved back blueberry donut (not touching the ding-dongs yet)… oh yea, Saturday morning I made a run to the spud nut shop and got two Jalapeno sausage rolls and a blueberry donut… saved my donut for today…, I went out and got the paper and set on the back deck having my donut, reading the paper… checking my plants on the deck… had to water some ad they don’t get watered with the drip system… then I worked on the ground to my antennas as it was loose?
About noon Sherrie asked if I was getting hungry…? that means she was and I said, I had breakfast while she was asleep , well then she explained why she was sleeping in… oh!..
So again we took off for lunch… we really should eat at home more but when neither one of us wants to cook? you go get salads in town… Anyway after eating we decided to take a little drive… in the Sunday paper there had been an article about a Titik’s Country Barn out NW of town? Seems they have dances and run a B&B in the barn… so we took off to find that place…
The barn is in the top left where there are 3 red dots…the rest is our trip log out and back… came in by the lake on some back roads…
Went by the Fairview Cemetery… I wonder how many Fairviews there are? As I am sure I have been by a dozen…? just here in Oklahoma…
Out in that area there are quit a few stone buildings from the old days… this one was somewhat behind an old pump-jack…
This old house was a stone house with several additions… has seen better days… and as far as I can see, no windows on the north side…
We got home, I did some more Ham-Radio… and that was the day… I may have found one of my mistakes from working on the tower last week but not sure just yet… need some more testing to figure it out… seems it works worse now as a vertical than it did before? oh well…
I also spent more time sifting through the old junk in the box and came across some old paperwork I had forgotten… found the old manual for my Grandmother Philco radio I have in the basement…. the manual is in a plastic bag but in pretty bad shape… crumbling up and all… oh well the radio is still ok and used to work but I have not plugged it in for several years… the tubes are getting hard to find…
