T“Yep, the end of one year leads to the beginning of another… So is today the end of this year… hope it was good to you? and the beginning of another and for it, do the things necessary to make it a good year. We can’t control how things turn out we can only control how we accept them and progress through them…
Today, was a road trip… damn long one at that, with at least one false start and several “I think I lost my”"? The road trip to Colorado Springs for the weekend. I started off way too early, I woke up at 4am after having gone to bed at 11pm? What’s up with that? I then just floated between sleep and wake till we finally just got up at about 6:30 and started packing things in the car for the long trip… Once loaded and ready we set the cat out and took off… got about 5 miles and remembered I forgot the sack of fruit and cookies for the trip… not too far out so we doubled back and picked up the stuff.. The cat probably thought we were returning to let her back in but no such luck… So we were off again…
Up the road about 20 miles we stopped and grabbed a quick breakfast at MickyD’s. Not the greatest place but we have pets on board… we have to drag two dogs every where… Not my idea but I live with it. Back on the road we are moving pretty well, but I notice that our mileage is horrible? Since the car has over 100,000 miles on it I had the transmission fluid flushed and replaced Monday and had hoped that it would improve the mileage? That didn’t work and the whole trip out we got about 10 percent less mileage than we got just last week going to Dallas and back? I got to complain about that, hope they didn’t put in the wrong stuff?
It was damn cold on our trip today… 14 degrees on the car temp gauge and that was till we got north of Wichita and there it dropped to 12 degrees… till we hit Limon and it was 21 degrees there?
Found the snow when we got into Kansas. Had snowed yesterday and left some drifting along the roads all the way…
I remember this from a long time ago… living out in Eastern Colorado and we saw drifts like this a lot… and again in Perryton, TX… nothing between us and the North Pole except a 3 wire fence that was down at the time… ha!
This capture is a jet contrail but look close…. there is a shadow with it? not sure but the contrail is below the clouds so it must be a reflection of the light from the snow covered ground back up and the trail causing a shadow… and the color on the side… just the windshield glare (I think)…
As we neared Colorado Springs we got some nice Ranch art and cloud and rainbow pictures…
I saw this and had to U-turn to get it but I had missed the “HERD” in the background…
And that was only about half of them… several were sporting some healthy racks…
The picture is poor but there was a rainbow in the cloud, ice crystals we think…
Sun setting south of Pikes Peak…
Pikes Peak in the middle of that, just about the highline pole…
I forgot to post this last week… now this one is accented and would be better on a black one?
So Happy New Year to you all… I will most likely be long gone when the year comes in… it was a long day…
