It has turned off warm , nice and … ooops, cooled off today and then rained the afternoon away… but didn’t get a lot of rain…
I started my day early… woke up at 5:30… tossed several times and then just got up. Let the dogs out and then fed them… and figured…. why not check the radio and see if anything is happening on the really low bands (160 meter)… I made one contact there. Florida station was calling using Olivia 4/250? kind of odd mode, odd set, and in the major portion of the JT65 area but what the heck, no one else was on… He said it was in the 80’s there… humm we were in the 70’s yesterday but 80’s… would be nice. Once I closed out with him I tried a few JT65 calls but n nothing else was happening so went back in the house and it was just after 7am… ok, I am up so why not go to the gym and get in some time on the machines. So I swapped out for shorts and took off, since it was felling pretty good outside. I got my 2 miles on the mill and 10 minutes each on 2 different weight machines and was feeling the hunger pains for breakfast so took off and made a stop at Braums for a breakfast burrito… I know, I just exercised but what the heck, I worked that much off..
Once back I was noticing that it was cool… like higher humidity and getting wind from the north… not as nice in the shorts as it started out? but I was tough… I worked on a few small things… Like chasing some sparrows out of a bluebird house… put the trap in and caught one but in the wind he got out of the bag before I could close it all up so missed a chance… if he comes back will put the trap back in. I was off for lunch as Sherries mom and sister were coming in town for some appointments… of course when they come with kids we end up at Joe’s… not on the top of my list but passable.
I finished up , got Sherrie back to work and I headed home… damn shorts were getting a bit cool now… once home I figured it was a good point to go get some dirt (top soil) for the flower bed. Since I am not on the farm anymore I have to go buy my dirt to fill in. Anyway made it to Lowes, got some dirt and some manure for the flowers… this time I just put the hitch hauler on and got 10 bags… it was a pretty good load on the hitch (about 400 lbs.) but handled fine… as I was headed home it started to mist a little… and as I pulled in to get the bags off it was drizzle a little harder so I hurried through dumping the bags off, cutting, spreading and back in before I “melted”… You know us sweet people will melt in the rain?…
I still need a few more bags in the bulb /? flower bed and a lot in the raised bed below but it is a start. I had also got some parts for m my other project of putting in a buried cable line for my coax out to the RCV antennas… lucky yesterday I stopped at a place that had some big rolls of reddish/orange pipes… turns out it was a yard for the local cable company and I caught one of the contruction guys there… he just happened to have two short ends that he needed to get rid of so he gave them to me and I bought a coupler and then he volunteered to haul it all home for me… since I had the jeep and it just wasn’t going to fit in that… anyway I bought some pieces that I hope will serve as plug ends for that where I can drill a hole in the rubber plug and run the cable out through that like a grommet seal… will find out if that works. I also got some plumbing pieces that I hope will work for curled ends to keep the end pointed down or at least out and not up for water to run in? haven’t had a chance to try that yet… cause it started raining on down as I pulled out of the back yard… good timing?
yea the cat had to check it out but didn’t stay long as it was starting to rain and the cat and white dog do not like to get their feet wet…
A bunch of these guys were checking out the feeder that I filled also…
So the weather is a lot better than it was just a few days ago…
Which is pretty nice that I can get onto a few of the things outside to do… I would sure like to get the last of my contacts on 160 meter but it is getting way late in the year and it looks like a task for next winter now…
