It was a slow start to the day today… thinking on it, it has gotten that way with a lot of days now… feels good to not be in a rush all the time.
I got around and figured today would be a good day to get the two sets of LED lights I got for replacing the CFL’s in the motorhome done. I only got two sets as I was not sure they would work out but after installing , I will get the rest of them ordered and put in. So after noon I went out and got the first set wired in. I had previously fixed plug in ends on them so I could just put them in and if they didn’t work take them out and plug the CFL’s back in. That little project entailed soldering the ends together and adding a short length of wire and then solder on the plug ends. I should of gotten pictures of the initial process for getting them ready as it took about 35 to 40 minutes to do that part before I even got them out to the motorhome. but again, so intent on the project I forget to document the progress.
I did get pictures of the final installation of the last light.
here I had to cut the white wire between the wall inlet and the board to put the plug on… I would only need to put the other end of the plug (that is dark blue here on the other end of the white wire to put it back to normal). The red wire with the blue color on the end plugged into the switch back is the other side of the LED lights. The black wire from the CFL’s board is folded back out of the way with plug still on it so I could just unplug the red and plug the black if I had to.
All wired tied and pulled back so the cover can go back on.
Installed the white cover that hides the CFL transformer board and wiring… (well not all of it as now the LED’s wires have to run out there..) but I put the normal reflective cover back on that hides the CFL bulbs anyway so they look stock.
I was impressed with the amount of light they put out. I just wish I could get “warm white” led’s for this project in the same configuration and same price… everyone I looked for seems to be way more expensive? In this instance the swap out cost me about the cost of 3 bulbs for the CFL’s and use a lot less power… the best things is they won’t get near as hot as that transformer board and the CFL bulbs did.
So small project but making some difference.
