Today was kind of a day to check it all out? When we got around this morning (late) we decided to go have Jalapeno sausage dogs at the daylight donut shop… they roll a jalapeno sausage link into a dough and bake it like pigs in a blanket… they are pretty good. When we finished that it was a decision to go on out to the local Home and Garden show… They were charring $3 each to get in but figured that might be cheap if we picked up any good give-always… We got a few but nothing shattering… We checked out the plants at both the OSU Horticulture place and the Oklahoma Botanical Garden booth… some nice plants but nothing seemed to be eye catching for us. The show was pretty big a sit filled all the buildings including the arena area… even had food trucks in the arena… We signed up for a lot of free stuff… but suspect all we will get are sales calls…? oh well.
After that we started back in to town and got the urge to visit Scotts Liquidation… haven’t been in there in months so figured he might have some special junk … he didn’t most of it was special for someone but not us… then further in , I made a diversion to the south to show Sherrie that the old trailer park on the south end was gone… cleared off. I think that CREC is going to build a new headquarters office over on that lot ( it is across the road from where they are now…
From there we routed home by way of the nursery and found they hadn’t started stocking things up yet… and on home… well then if we are just running around we need to go to Sam’s in Edmond and cash our refund check… with the new Sam’s card we get 5% back on gas purchase and 3% on dining and travel… and 1% on everything else… so we had a pretty good check for using it over the last 9 months… So, we took off about 2pm for Edmond with the thought of stopping at the Rocky Mountain Grill as we had read they had Green Chili
Stolen from the Urban spoon page but it would appear the green chili is sans pork… but that is ok.. as long as it is good green chili sauce.
and they have a Facebook page here
and being that we are crazy about Green Chili and usually only get it out in Colorado this was an opportunity… well we didn’t read the fine print… place is only open till noon on Saturday … what a crock… so we missed out on that tasty opportunity… next time we will have to reverse our priorities I guess? Anyway we then were hungry and had to find an option 2 or Plan B as some call it… on down 2nd street looking and thinking and finally Sherrie hit on the idea of Flatire Burgers… ok, I guess she and the kids had been there some time ago but I had not… it is near the college but we took a very long way around… missed several turns till we got back over to that place… got into the parking lot just after the girl scouts had put all their stuff away – how lucky is that… and there wasn’t nay wait or line… but it was like 3:30pm so guess there should be anyone but the seniors looking for senior specials… but I think this place doesn’t care much about specials for seniors , although they have a special for every day of the week up on wall… and they have a new addition to the menu…
Fried peppers with a dipping sauce… ? hum??? yep, green chili’s – ok lets have that for a starter and see how good this place is…
Ok, them things were real good… but I think they were actually Jalapeno’s the waiter only new they were green in color and hot… but not too hot…
But they did have a “Green Chili Burger” so I got that and it did have big slices of Green chili… and was pretty good… pretty messy too… I didn’t get my own pic of that… I was hungry…
This is their header picture of one of the burgers…
On the way out, I noticed that it was not just flat tire but “no-tire”…
Not much there?
After that meal I needed a nap but we had to get out stuff at Sam’s and the money… we got the stuff and got a big chunk of cash back… I love when that happens, although the reality is we spent a lot of damn money to get that chunk back… just nice we are getting a refund on some of it…
We loaded our price possessions… which when you go to Sam’s are usually way too much of some things as it is a “BULK” sales place but the stuff we get in bulk now will not go bad… just find a place to store it and we will use it all up ( paper towels, and TP)…
Back home we were kind of out of it… so just sat around the rest of… did watch the 165 wresting match on TV… OSU had only one guy that made the championship(round but he was pretty dynamic… not many can go 49 matches with out a loss! and 33 this year…
On another note… our basketball teams will be coming home (one and done)… All year we have heard how tough the Big 12 was… but look at the records in the tournament and we don’t look too tough right now… maybe next year we need to not “eat that hype” ?
Once that match was over I “retired” to my hobby shop and played radio some… updated software and nothing much else…
