Solid Labor

I should sleep good tonight… I hope.  I got up and went in for my workout at the wellness center… got in some weights and about 2 miles on the treadmill… nice I can walk all those miles and catch up on the news on all the TV’s down there…

When I got home I, for some strange reason, got the urge to get a couple of my projects done, or at least start… well I got out the ladder and got up on the shop roof and took an antennas down that I don’t use there cause there is just too much noise for a vertical on top of my shop… It works a lot better out away from the house and close to the ground?  so down it came and collapsed it up for storage in the motorhome… it is my travel antennas… I hope to use it this summer?  The reason for removing that antennas was two fold… it didn’t work well with out a lot of radials and I wasn’t going to do that up on the roof and I wanted to put my other Martin house up on the roof for a trail this summer? The Martins spend a lot of time up on the tower and the roof so why not put one of the houses up there?  Will see how it works out… but I also had to prep it a bit… clean out and put some “doors” on so the sparrows wouldn’t take over before the Martins get here…

Once I got that done I figured why not get things ready to bury that cable line I had picked up a week or so ago for my coax out to the remote antennas… get that done and I won’t be mowing the cables this summer… and now is the time as the ground is still wet and soft… I didn’t plan on burying it too deep as I may want to pull it back out at some point… so I got all the stuff ready before I went in for lunch… on my way home from lunch I spotted this… some kid is not happy…

When we were done with lunch I got home and pulled out my tools and fixing and the ….. shovel… and commenced the hard part… digging that damn trench…

I was only going about 6 inches deep with the conduit so it was about one full shovel deep for that…

Got the first section dug, and pipe in and covered back over…   It has to be about 160 ft out to that antennas way down between those two trees as the first section of conduit was 110 ft, according to teh guy I got it from and that only put me part way…

At the bottom (where it starts back up the other side) is where I had to splice on another section of conduit but I got it all dug here and starting to do some more cover..

The end at the shop… with inner tube seal…

SAM_2191

The piece at the antennas with a “T” box and riser to the post and the inner tube seal on the e4nd lines up the post… all tied back in and tested that it is working… I put in a T box in case I want to add some more line further out to the edge of the property and get further away from the homes and noise… but for now this is the end point…

I finished that all up at about 5:45… got my tools put away and went in …. to fix dinner.. nothing exciting… spaghetti with meat sauce.  Got that all down and went out to play radio… make sure it is working ok… I don’t expect it to be any different than before, just wanted to make sure I didn’t unfix something… I can do that sometimes…

So it was a hands on labor intensive day… I hope to sleep well tonight and not end up with more pains than gains… ha!
