I have been pretty lax at keeping on on daily things because they are…. mundane things… Like picking up sticks… I spent much of one day out cleaning up the yard before I mow under the oak trees… I had mowed earlier but not under the trees… just out in the open and where the damn weeds were higher than the grass, so now I had to get those oak sticks picked up and cleaned out… they can make a big mess of a mower.
I have also played radio a little in-between… when the weather cleared the bands were open so I got busy and made some contacts while the noise was down a bit…
Today, we stared slow and ended slower… We did get around and head off to Perry for their “Spring Day” or what ever they call it but much of it is old cars and stuff around the court house.
On our way out of town we opted to go in and up Hwy 77… and through campus caught this?
Hard to see in the picture but that is a step ladder on the end of that crane? I have seen them lift up things they don’t want to get stolen but a step ladder? not sure it is that valuable and can’t be hauled out on the pickups? but maybe it was to keep the crane cable tied down a little? who knows? Once we got to Perry we parked anda started the rounds of the Courthouse lawn and blocked off street…
57 wagon… “Nomad” Not sure I am into Purple but nicely done…
Of course the old Corvettes are fun.. were a few newer ones around too..
Orange… great color…
This was really smooth, great finidh inside and out… but not as good as one later on..
Great redo of an old T… really nice..
Now this one had it all… Corvette engine, and the trunk was on a power opener like most vans have now… not sure it was a kit or what? pretty smooth..
I still like the old El Caminos… nice job of transforming this one…
I really like this guys write up…
We decided to have lunch at the “oldest café in Oklahoma” or that is what we are told… suppose that might have some caveats like “in original location” and or original name” or something like all that…
Anyhow we had lunch at the Kumback Café… or here… The food was standard fare… although they do have a rather big menu and I probably should have tried the chicken fried steak sandwich… but got an onion burger instead… Sherrie had the chicken salad plate… the inside is pretty interesting and one would have to spend days getting a better look at all the history on the walls…
Lots of stuff to check out in there…
On our way back to the jeep I caught this on the side of one of the cars… brings back old days…
Of course with all that , I would like to have a nice show vehicle… probably a street rod or El Camino but likely all I can afford is one of these…
and I am not sure about that?
Great day, great adventures, but should have made a run on up to check out the flying machines too… but we didn’t… oh well…
