Well, it was a school holiday… Sherrie didn’t have to work so we did the “TOTAL RETIRED” deal today… and that didn’t include staying in bed till noon… At this age… you have to get up pretty early… sometimes several times… but today we got out and she had heard that Red Rock had sausage rolls like we had been getting at the donut shops so we went there for breakfast… well they are twice as big and much better but the twice as big hurts…
We also picked up a caramel nut roll for later… once that was done it was “what do you want to do? I don’t know what do you want to do?” It was agreed that we might run to Guthrie so she could check out Hobby Lobby for some special yarn… she ran out on some of the Grandsons stuff she is making and needed more then someone else said they liked it and wanted some so she needed more and… well you get it… so we brought the extra roll home and she looked up Hobby Lobby in Guthrie… hummm they don’t have one… well they have two in Edmond and that is just a bit further… ok we can go there… so we headed south… got to Edmond and found the Hobby Lobby on the very north end and they had the yarn so she bought all they had of the proper die lot… so then what… well the weather is cool so what else can we do well, lets go see Paper and More store that Brooke mom has… ok so we headed on south to that… did a look around… nice store …. for women… then, since so close I hit Sam’s discount liquor , still looking for some special gold cans to finish up the current airplane but they didn’t have any , although they had a black one???? it might work so I got a 4 pack of Scottish beer “black stout”… oh boy… not sure how much of that I can drink?… but the cans were cool…
Well, we are this far why not try that Joann’s that might have some more of that yarn? ok, so off we went in search but it was not at the old address we had? I used my phone and found it was 3 miles further west, so … hey it was just 3 more miles so off we headed for that… got there and ….
Watch Dog?…
But they only had some black yarn not the orange and black so that was out… leaving there we spotted the 5 guys burger joint and we went through, “hey it is noon, what do you want for lunch? I don’t know what do you want?”
Well in the delay it hit… hey we are way out west in OKC why not make a run to the Green Chili Kitchen and give it a second chance… maybe they have the air conditioner fixed this time? so off we went to Yukon… Just a week or more ago we tried to get some green chili (supposed to be two in the OKC area now) but found this
And they are still not open so maybe today??? we get a shot at the other one…
So off we went in that direction and on the way we took Wilshire across to the toll road and found a very unusual Stop sign… first I can remember seeing that is “accented”…
Yep blinking red lights on the stop sign… you do see it from a distance.
When we got there they were open and plenty of cars in the lot so we went in… it did smell good like fresh green New Mexico Chili’s… and not being versed in their versions we went for the smothered burrito… should have gotten the stew and salad… but oh well… when it came out I had to comment that in New Mexico if you order “smothered with green chili” that means smothered with the green chili stew not just chopped green chili’s”???
I can say the Guacamole was pretty good but needed a little more ‘”kick”… the Salsa was really good not too spicy and no cilantro messing with the taste… but the smothered was a throw back to non-New Mexico style… I did get a cup of the stew to bring home and put on the remaining half of that burrito for later… we will see if their stew is any good as a left over… cause we both had half of the burrito each to bring home along with about half of that guacamole salad… My rating is that the food is good, but for New Mexico style it lacks an understanding and is pricey like being in Sante Fe and not Raton or Farmington… ha! oh well… live and learn…
So after lunch we jumped on the turnpike and get back around to Sam’s and filled up with “cheap” gas ($2.26 vs. 2.39 to 2.75 every where else)… and then on up the road toward home… made a diversion off on highway 33 and stopped at the Art glass Emporium and had a look around… didn’t see much more that we did the last time… actually less as they had sent a bunch of their glass out on a Colorado trip for 7 weeks to hit all the weekend art shows… We got home and kind of did not much else for the rest of the day till about 7:30 then went for a milk shake as I didn’t want to double up on the burrito today… then drove some around and ended up at Cousin Mike’s … caught him in the yard and stopped and visited for a while… then came on home… crash out and see what tomorrow brings..
Yesterday on my way out I grabbed a picture of a old garage that for some reason I liked the look of… some great barn wood there waiting for a project… maybe…
So that was our day… .holiday before the holiday sort of deal…
