Ok, no cruise today or rather just up a bit to dock …
About 6:30AM coming into Vancouver…
Downtown and the heliport… later we learned the funny top on the building to the right is the “seaplane and heliport air traffic center” they have a huge sea plane port we couldn’t see from here way off to the right.
Bit more of down town.. and blow is the water bus ferry…
After a lot of chaos and waiting we got on a bus to leave for the airport… that was the convention center and the blue thing is to be a raindrop…
Bus driver said this was “art”… it was done to depict where the elevators were in the building to the right and sure enough they move up and down in relation to the elevators..
We also were told this is a very “GREEN” city and they are moving to all electric buses for downtown… replacing the old trolleys.. they also have the highest housing (average home is about 1 million) they have a very high density of population in the downtown areas…
The downtown library built as replica to Roman Coliseum…
Of course we were way too late for the World Cup (women’s) but that is the stadium they won the cup in… we went around it on at least two side … hard to get pictures out a bus window..
Really bad picture but as we passed by he told us that that is a Home Depot store… but they have about 4 or 5 floors of condo’s on top of it due to space problems in town… Living above the home depot? not a good idea for some guys…
The electric bus yard.
Once we got into the airport, checked in, etc.… in our end I found the collection of Donald Duck figures from 1912 to 2012…. they are on both sides of the thing…
And they had Mickey and it took 3 of these cabinets on both sides..
As we left we could see a lot of the islands and ocean out from Vancouver…
And a volcano or two…
So ended the Alaska Cruise… I think we could do it again but maybe a different ship or different direction or? not sure… it was a lot of fun, saw a lot of things we had not seen before… great experience and nothing bad about the ship… they did a great job of meals, shows, and excursion availability… no complaints but if you don’t change you don’t know what else is out there… oh well… for a later thing to check out… We heard that this ship – the Celebrity Millennium will do the China coast or something over there…, I had seen earlier that it did the New Zealand tour but I guess they all change…
We got into OKC about 10;30, got our bags and home about 11:45… it was way after midnight to get to bed… and the cat sure was glad to see us… maybe she thought she had been abandoned…
I have a lot more pictures of what we saw… a lot of really bad ones but some ok ones beyond what I have here… if I get around to it, I may get them into an album on my Google/Picasa stuff… who knows.
