I appreciate all the Birthday Greetings… I must inform everyone that I quit having birthdays and have determined that it is best to count them in decades now… I am only “6”… which also reduces the problems of candles, and other things (Benny). This was advised by one of the financial advisors to think in the “long term” so that is how I view it now… long term, short numbers (also a financial condition).
So to catch up… Tuesday and Wednesday I spent trying my best to get ready for a road trip and long weekend. It is not my birthday that counts but that of GS#3 , he will be a whole 1 Sept 9th but we are celebrating on the long weekend… That meant I had to get the laundry caught up, (yes, I do that too, since Sherrie is working to the end of the year)… I had to get some repairs done and the NEW “rebuilt” computer arrived for replacement of part of my hobby functions so I hurried along getting that updated, software installed and all the external functions working… I have a home weather station that was down from the lightening strike 2 weeks ago… http://www.ishmaels.net/wx/usa.htm that is back up now… fought some of the issues of moving from one computer to another and getting all the links put back in… I also got my security cameras back up and running on the much faster computer so that seems to work much better now… At some point I will get some replacement cameras for a few of the spots that died… This one did not die and has a couple of squatters taking up daytime residence..
I do miss the great back yard view… that also went to my weather page links on Wunderground…KOKSTILL5… slowly but surely I am getting a few things back up and running… not sure why I think I need all that but hey… hobbies keep me busy…
Thursday morning we set out for a “road trip” to Colorado for the GS#3 birthday… we start fairly early since it is a long drive, about 10+ hours depending on stops and other things, which on the stops… yes, first stop is breakfast on the road… Perry… I wanted to get pictures there but was not inclined to as having a group (only 5 or 6) of the Texas Banditos, bike group stop at the same place, tends to over shadow your desire to picture things… No clue on which way they were going and what they were focused on, other than we all had breakfast and they seemed nice enough so we just moved on.
Next stop… hey were old and stop a lot… was just in Kansas at the first visitors center. Amazing that Kansas can have a lot of road side parks and stops available on the m main roads and Oklahoma only has the one at each end of the state, and only for those coming in and not leaving? I know the comment “well the picture was on other toll road”… but hey, they have stops every 50 miles or so on I-70… both sides and several on I135 from Wichita up to Salina… Just saying it appears Oklahoma is doing a poor job of road maintenance and visitor attraction.
We stopped again in Salina to fill up at the cheaper station (Sam’s) and relief as well… then on west… not sure, and didn’t look it up but must have been a Jeep thing in Eastern Kansas or Missouri? I say that because we saw several jeeps on the road back to Colorado with Colorado tags… maybe just a lot of them on vacation to the east? but this one was a little bit more visible that others…
Silver and Lime Green accents… can’t loose that one…, I wouldn’t want to rid it for 600 miles on the interstate… he wasn’t running over 65 and with those big tires, raised body and open back… it would be noisy and rough… good for young people I guess…
The road from Salina to The Springs is a bit boring… so you really need to look for things as you go… well boring now that we have done it so many times… anyway I did get one thing I had missed before…never notice the patchwork on this grain bin?
in the light, the green grass, which is usually not green it stood out very visible… wish I had been able to get a close up but 75 down the road and through the windshield… that is as good as it gets…
When we were about to get to the Spring, after a few more stops along the way, I did get this..
interesting how the shaft of light down on the light rain shower was sticking out so m much… looks like a shaft or hail or something else but was pretty sure it was just a break in the clouds shining on that single area of showers… just interesting…what was even more so was the fact that it was green nearly all the way across… almost never is it green in the far east and western Kansas this time of year… early spring, maybe and mid fall, maybe but first of Sept… unusual…
We got into the kids and were treated to a very vibrant rainbow and then a double…
The picture still does not do it justice and damn I got that light post right in the way… oh well and the double was pretty light but was there..
Today, we didn’t do a lot… got out, did a little shopping for special stuff, while out I caught this sign…
Hummm, Brain Development… I could use some of that… but should of found that place 40 years ago..or more?
We took a few pictures for GS#3 for the day…
We then made a run in town and then Sherrie and I went to Florence and took my sister out for dinner… nothing fancy… just a burger and took it to the park in Canon… nice evening…on the way back got a picture of this great stump art..
And that pretty much was the day… enjoyed..
