I spent the week getting the motor home out and doing a few of those things I had neglected over the past 3 years or longer. I had been taking care of road ready maintenance ( oil, lube, tires, etc.), but I had not been doing the “camping or living” things that I knew needed fixing. So all week I was up and down on my knees and up and down, etc. All my storage is under the unit and that requires getting on your knees to get things out, put things back, clean it out, etc. Along with all that I had to crawl in to come tight spots to fix a few things. Last Saturday before I pulled it out we went into town to have a sausage roll and pick up a few small items. While out we found that it must have been the first Saturday as the local antique, classic and ? car club was meeting at the local Sizzling Sirloin. I had known they meet there the first Saturdays of each month but forgotten till we came on a few old cars headed in…
There were several old ones in the parking lot but I didn’t get pictures of any but this one… unless you look down in the back and notice a couple of old pickups and the 60? Chevy way in the back.
Different angle and you see a few more old ones and special ones over that way.
So during the week I cleaned out all the stuff and we washed up all the bedding, dishes, pots, etc.… been 3 years they have sat out and were not covered, etc.… and I flushed the water system like 5 times and the water heater to get all the old out and new fresh in. Hope it helps cause some years ago the water heater smelled rally bad. I worked on some radio stuff and some more led lighting… replaced the outside door light with a motion sensor led light. fixed some of the other minor small things then during all the flushing I remember (by getting sprayed) that the kitchen sink faucet had a problem. The pull out head would pop off the hose and poof you could get wet. By accident we found a replacement of the same type and size at Lowes so I picked that up and proceeded to replace the faucet. that is not an easy place to get into…
But now we have a new kitchen faucet. Next up, the bathroom one needs to be replaced so ? maybe in a month or so.
I also put in another 12 volt receptacle and voltage monitor near the driver area. was a blank spot and found the right stuff so put in the items along with an extra 2 USB charging ports under a cap. never enough USB ports, right?
had to pull the access covers, to get to the power lines, fortunately the fuse box is just below this and I had already run some new leads up when I put in the big radio a few years ago. I also fixe it so just this one new 12 volt plug would be on the ignition side so it could run the tire monitor and brake monitor and they wouldn’t be beeping late at night like in the past. When it gets cool the big tires can go down in pressure enough to cause that alarm to go off and you had to remember to unplug it when we parked… but not now… it only works when the engine is running, also less draw on the road batteries as all these plugs up front are on the road batteries and not the house.
Anyway, I now have a voltage monitor on the road batteries , even when the key is off. I need to get one on the house batteries. Yes we do have the monitor switch on the control panel in the hallway but it is hard to read, not easy to see, and the new ones do not take that much to run.
Anyway, today we loaded up and took the motorhome out for a run… weekend run. Been so long since it has been out we needed some practice before summer gets here. I wanted to attend the Green Country Hamfest( yes it it is a geek sort of things) and there is an RV park right there so that is a good opportunity to get out and test things. It was plenty windy but we moved right on along, got to Claremore about 1pm and got things set up. Then off for some late lunch and drive around town a little. Been a long times since we both had been here… lots of things change. Lunch was a toss up so we stopped at Ron’s. It claims to be famous and has been there since 1975? I was here in 1972 so guess I never knew about Ron’s. I see that there are several around in Tulsa and Owasso and ?
Forgot the pictures of the food but I had a Mexican Steak… a big hamburger patty on a bed of chili topped with green chilies, cheese then jalapenos… and it was pretty good no matter what it sounds like.
Anyway, I am prepared for the hamfest… maybe move some treasured items out and try not to get as many back.
