On the road again… thank you Willie.
We finally got all the stuff packed and hit the road. Figured to get out before the storms picked up today and needed to be out west past the “dry-line” by noon or as close as possible. The damn wind was horrific even at 8 AM once we turned west it was a struggle to keep things on the road. The Humidity was horrible as well. We stopped in Enid for the last of the cheap Diesel. Murphy on the west side was 10 cents lower than everyone else. A bit hard to get in and out but we made it. Then on west… and second rest stop was…
Near this guy… it is a very very large wind vane and the prop turns as well as the plane turns… I need to get some of my planes put on sticks? so they will turn in the wind? maybe?
Hard to guess the size but the light to the lower left is actually below and beyond the pole here… figure it is maybe the size of a small car? One the main road through Woodward…
We left and just as we hit Ft Supply the brake buddy thing was going off… so stopped went back and found that it was not holding air, had run the battery down …. agn… Although this time it didn’t crash the nav system in the radio.
From there it was on to Guymon for a very late lunch. Eat at Mr. Burger and in years past we thought it was pretty good but today? not so much? just average.
See the difference from Woodward with all the clouds and then past Guymon we hit the clear and less wind. Still not smooth but better than the 30mph side… it was only about 15 to 20 out here? normal stuff…
Now aint the pert-tee that “no-mans” land view… nothing for miles…
In Guymon the battery was still dead so I went in Walmart and picked up one of those small booster things… smaller than a set of jumper cables and it was plenty to make it start. Ran the jeep a little to charge things up and then… on West…
We pulled into Boise City about 4:30 and found the old Loaf N Jug was not a Toot and Totem? but refilled with their diesel before moving on to Clayton, NM. Just like everything else things do change… the old KOA is now independent but does honor Good Sam. We got a spot, hooked up and lounged a little before going to DQ for ice cream… Also took a little driver around town…
Downtown looks about he same.
I know we had see it before but didn’t really recognize the courthouse?
I know it is dinosaur country but this guy is not one of those locally? and besides he is going the wrong way (Note the sign).
Every town has a mural on the wall somewhere… shades of the Santa Fe trail…
I tried to get pictures of the high school that looks more like and old mission or ? the Alamo or ? than a school building… But I didn’t get the right distance or angle for that.
On our way back in the far east side of town (middle of nowhere) the colorful Snow Cone shack… ?
This guy has seen a lot of parades… name sake?
