Well, the Ark River is crossing into flood stage again this summer due to some high temps , rapid snow melt, etc. the river here and around Canon City is hitting flood stage. With that happening we got out today to see how high the water was… really not out of the banks in most critical places but some of the others are slopping over the edges…
At the park they pier over the edge of the bridge to see where it is… some don’t care as they picnic anyway..
Building the rock Cairns to protect,, ? They are balanced on tree roots that stick out in the water, not sure how long they will last.
During our tour along the river, spotted this old barn, converted to ? just makes an inte5resting picture , I thought.
Lot of water flowing here… like over 4000 basketballs hitting you at once if you fell in.
We found a road on the north side we had not been on before and some old houses that are fixed up pretty nice.
This old brick house had an add on garage in the back with some unique decoration above the door.
Last night we made it to one of the parks here that has Tuesday night music for free (donations) the Southern Colorado Band played…
They had food trucks or rather one food truck and several shaved ice and ice cream vendors… the look is not right for enjoying but he was, actually he was sticking it in the cup as it couldn’t eat faster than the melt…
Even the older folks had ice cream but no need for a cup..
Now this is something you don’t see too often… After an evening ride you stop in at Sonic for a chili dog?
We got home, rested up a bit and enjoyed the cool of the evening after the recent rain. luckily we didn’t get some of the bad weather they got further east.
