Been a few days and we have been busy. A lot more of that up and back and watching grandkids while parents have to do things that the kids just can’t tag along. We just barely got back to Florence and The RV then we had to turn around and make a run back to Denver but we decided to make that trip a bit more conforming and took roads we knew back up. We did however take a morning side trip down to Lake San Isabel and to Westcliffe to see what had changed. Seems we have not been that way for a long time and lots is changing.
On the road I remember this old cabin as having been in a lot better shape 30 years ago…
In fact I seem to remember that people were staying in it maybe 40 years ago? Maybe not but was in far better shape back then.
This one is still being cared for… the old garage and barn with a new barn added?
The ranch house is freshly painted too.
Can’t miss a chance to stop and look at the changes of Bishops Castle. We didn’t go in but lots of changes on the towers and all. You can see someone in the big metal dome way up there too.
A bit further back with more of the stuff visible.
At the lake we stopped and got a few drinks and then drove around a few of the old cabins and new ones… saw these two out front of one
Wasn’t long and the one under just laid down. seems they are not too scared of getting some shade up there.
We then went on into Westcliffe and spotted some great chairs… right color and everything
The lady that owns this shop (coffee and sandwiches down from the chair shop) had some too and had to come out and tell us her son is in Stillwater. Playing football. Her name….
Shelley Shelley… yep, both names the same first and last.? Place is called the Stage Stop. From there we had to get back, load up and hit the road for Denver.
Didn’t get lost more than once on this day. Once there I decided to try out the Boulder Jeep dealer as I was way past due for an old change so early Thursday morning I took off while Mawma was in charge and took the 2 yr. old to the park. I left a bit earlier than they did and caught some balloons in the valley east of Golden… I know way off and hard to be seen.
Of course I got the few windmills that are up there on that hill too… ha! The Jeep dealer in Boulder did a good job and were really fast. Got my oil and check and tire rotation done in 30 minutes but as I feared they found I had a need to replace the back brakes. That took an extra hour and half to get them brought up to date. but still I was out in about 2 hours and back to the house before noon. The rest of the day was a lazy one,. didn’t get much done. That evening they fixed up some grilled chicken and shrimp, I cut my finger trimming an onion so didn’t do much else. But did capture one thing you have to be careful of with a 2 yr. old around…
Seems his diaper came off and then he had a need so he just “dogged” the bush. oh well..
So that gets things up through Friday evening. We had to get up early again and make it back to the Springs by 10am Saturday to do a bit more setting there…then back to our little house and some rest before a Sunday excursion.
