Well, lots of things and places and stuff happened in last week… We made our final run (of this trip) to get our “green chili burger” and set in the park in Canon City… while there we noticed this tree already starting to change… appears the change in color will happen about 2 weeks early this year?
we did a short tour around , last visit, and went back to RV to put things in place for the trip home on Sunday. but then just as we were slowing down and I was getting a few things clean, re-arranged and ready for the trip home, my sister calls Friday evening at 4:45pm and says, I just won 4 tickets to the Travis Tritt show and rodeo tonight you want to make a run in to the fair?” Well sure, we like free! At that point it was a rush, get cleaned up a bit, dressed and on the road as it was about 45 minute drive in to Pueblo and the show started (Rodeo) at 7pm… and we were really lucky, got parking across the street at the church and made it into the fair park in about 1 hour and 10 minutes… (6pm)… so we headed off to find something to eat before the show… For some strange reason we were not led(Sis and her friend had been there most of the afternoon so knew what was there), to one of the better eating places but wandered off into probably the last place you would want to eat there? But oh well we got FAIR food…
I got a sausage dog and beer… not something you can brag about, and neither was the meatball sandwich, or “footling minus 4 inches” that the other got, although I think the slice of pizza was ok…
No we didn’t get to try any of this either… although I would have if I had a little more time?
Since we had a little time and I was not inclined to be on time for the rodeo Sherrie and I wandered around a bit… caught a couple of “free” shows… this one and a few songs by Indigo Way (same group that played in Canon a few weeks ago)..
We also made our way over to the “vendor” area and got talked into trying the “Massage chairs”… The salesman got us in and something come up about price and I told him I guessed they would run near $8000 and he smiled and said pretty close and then punched up the buttons on Sherries and my chair for a 10 minute massage… ok… I think he was a bit peeved at me cause he must have set that chair to “VIOLATE” me and it did!.., you get into these things and they SQUEEZE down on you even your feet so that your not really able to get out once it starts up… the massage on my feet felt good the squeeze on my arms was ok but when it started to roll and pound and wiggle on my BUTT and I couldn’t get out, now that was a bit too much and it rolled up and down my back a bit hard and then went for the Butt again. Well when it shut down I wasn’t sticking around for the sales man to ask me how I liked it… I might have said more than I intended at that point…
There was some unusual and some usual stuff on sale in the vendor area… way more makeup and “stink cover” than I would have expected but hey… maybe they know the crowd better than I do? although I think they say you can put makeup on a pig but it is still a pig? (It was a fair you know).
Well after the VIOLATION process we moved pretty quick back to the rodeo grounds as I figured the hard wood bench would not be a violating as that chair… I was wrong… 3+ hours on that bench and I might have opted for the soft but violating chair? oh well… We did catch about half or a bit more of the Rodeo.. usual stuff, roping, riding, bulls, and barrels…
Of course this was a sanctioned rodeo so the competition and stock was a bit higher than most. Several of the contestants were event champions (PRCA) at some point in the past 4 years…
After a way too long intermission between the rodeo and the main show we finally got started with the reason we came. The band and Travis came out about 9:30 to start up some good music… and it was a really nice show, good music and well worth the price….. oh wait m was free , except I had paid for that FAIR food (sorry about that SIS but you could have led us to better food)…
We stayed to the end and on our way out found a few of those better vendors…
I mean you could have anything wrapped in bacon here and then finish up with bacon desert (covered in chocolate)… Had my but been less tender and it not been so damn late (about midnight with a hour drive back) I would have stopped and sampled some of the bacon specials… but at this point I was limping, rubbing my butt and wanting to get to a nice soft bed… my own… Great show, thanks for the free tickets… the rest was mostly my own fault..
Saturday we made a run to the Springs, had the whole family there (minus GS#3 – he was off with his mom) for lunch.. (Texas people miss their FUZZY’s)… so that was the place of choice..
Sunday we got around and headed for home with the understanding we would only do about 300 miles in a day… we stuck to that plan and stopped in Guymon at the old Drive in RV park… nice place well set up but we were too late for the shows they stop when school starts…
I think these stayed a bit too long?
Above was Sunday evening, nice an clear but some storms in the distant but Monday morning we woke to flood warnings and cloudy skies and humidity we had not experience in 3 months… whew that was bad..
and then on the road home we ran through one rain after another…
We were lucky to hit dry spots in Enid to fuel up and have a late lunch… and then when we got home enough to get unhooked, and put the rolling house in the shed… just in case it got worse…
We got most of the necessary stuff out Tuesday morning and then I had to get busy and mow the spots our summer guy couldn’t get to … got that done and then… more showers… and today a few more, cloudy and damn humid but not as hot, we already miss the cool nights, open windows and low humidity was had all summer… but oh well… Slowly we will get caught up on some things needed and then ??? back out for a few weeks later this coming month…
