Well, another great day in the west. It had been cold the days before but today it was not as cloudy early and the temps outside were in the low 30’s. With that I determined I needed to get out and do something constructive. Didn’t realize how constructive till later. When we first moved in we had trouble with one of the toilets. Son plugged it!. So we replaced it with a much stronger one that is supposed to pass golf balls!… Anyway the old one set in the garage and I was determined it needed to go. I put on the hitch packer for the jeep and loaded the old unit that we had placed in the new unit box on to the packer and then we headed toward The Springs to turn it in at Habitat. Once we found the donation place we found out that they can’t take or resell units that are not 1.6 GPF rated and this one didn’t have any rating on it. They did say that we could take it to the county hazardous waste collection station as they would grind it up for “road base”. The catch was I had to take all the plastic and pieces off. Well luckily I had a set of tools and made reasonably short work of taking the stuff off, although it was evident that it still had the …. plug in it. We found the Haz waste collection place, guy noticed all we had was the toilet so they never really looked at it and I pulled on in, got to the “big brown roll-off” (appropriate don ‘t you think?) and threw it into that container… now the porcelain and the “Plug” will be road base somewhere in El Paso county… isn’t great and good bye old Pot…
We then made a run back up to Palmer Lake to try out a new restaurant there/// mostly it is a take out place but has a few seats in it. It is called Arlene’s Beans and has a short list of Mexican food. It was pretty good, so will probably have to make a trip back at some point… I spent much of the rest of the day emptying more junk, boxes, flattening some and generally straightening things up as we still are in a mess with all the moving. We don’t move too fast… When we got home about 2:30 it was about 25 degrees out and for sure the temps were going down but boy by 7pm it was below zero and still going down and blowing snow… and it is supposed to be this way for the next 18 hours or more… ouch! high tomorrow is to be about +3 degrees. I think it will be a good day to stay in? maybe? But of all the things to do with the temps so low, blowing snow and all I got called to meet up with the returning GS#3 and family at a restaurant for half price burgers… ok… I guess half price is a good reason. So I went back out to Rosie’s and have a half price burger…
It is called the Desperado… big burger cooked the way you would a steak and then covered with green chili… can’t say much for the fries but the burger was pretty good…. I brought half of it home for later…
So that is what you do when it is –1 degree, snowing and blowing out… go out and eat… ha!
