Nothing like that last one…

Well, we got notice a few days ago that we had another BOBM CYCLONE coming… get prepared… so we did sort of… But the previous days were wonderful around here… although strange that it was in the uppder 70’s the few days before and now it is hitting freezing for highs and was down to about 15 last night… So backing up… ?

On Saturday I took a drive up north to another hamfes in Longmont.  called the LARC fest.  I had been several times before and it was pretty good… but this time it seemed pretty “THIN”? Less attending and less selling and what was being sold generally was “BOAT Anchors”…

I think this one was rebuilt and fixed up because it looked way too good for the age?

These were probably some fo the better antiques and then there was some really worthless stuff… ha!…

Now this guy has stuff to sell but said the banjo was his stress reducer… I thought it was radio but he was playing along and doing pretty good… I had a banjo or rather do, but never really learned to play… with all the music lessons I have taken it seems obvious that there just isn’t any music in me to come out… learn the notes but still doesn’t seem like music… oh well…

In the background you can see that they also have a a collection of ladies things, crafts, oils, stuff??? it is needed to at least put something in that big building… Seems that the first year I went the tables for the hams were way on out to the middle of the doors? not so anymore…

On my way up, early in the morning I had to stop and watch this action for alittle bit..

Since the weather was so nice the first half of the week we made a trip down to Canon City.  Grabbed a “Green Chili Burger” from Big Burger World and went to the park… while waiting at the Big Burger World we spotted this…

Somewhat of an optical illusion there…no it wasn’t on top of the house…

It was on the bank behind that building… but until I got closer to get this picture we couldn’t tell it wasn’t setting on top…and things were really greening up down in Canon.  Not so up here on the ridge..

Wednesday, we headed out for our weekly breakfast… and

This is what Bald Mnt north looked like and no the time is off and I am too lazy to reset my camera… up , back, up , back, crap I just use it so I guess I should just take the time off… althouhg it is somewhere close to 2 hours one way r the other some days… ha!.

On our way back…

It was creeping over the ridge… this one came down from the north… I had picked up some “white gas” for the lantern and some mantels so that I could have some light if the power went out again… But like all things I had not thought about how long ago it was that it actually worked… might have been 20 or 30 years?  Not sure.  I had drained it up way back and had oiled the pump, but the time had not been nice to the generator and the needle valve and ??? so I had to totally dismantle the whole thing and “de-gum” and buff off all the corrosion and other stuff… to stop the leaks.  Yep first attempt at lighting and I had an open flame but easily put that out and then decided best option was to tear it all down and restart… Fortunately I had purchased a spare generator for it 20 or 30 years ago so that wend in to replace the one that was totally plugged out… and a little polish here and ther and a little tightening of the seals , etc… and

I had light, no leaks, worked really well so let it run for 20 or 30 minutes and need to run it more often to maintain operations… never know when you might need it.  In fact I might need to do some camping? maybe?  Might need to fix the camp stove first too?

oh well, it was a good project for Wednesday and just about the time I finished up it was snowing big time outside… thinking “oh boy here it comes again… but..

We got this quicly then it slowed way down then we had wind but no horrible like last time… and this morning there were a few drifts about 1 ft deep but by evening most of that in the open was gone.  streets clear, driveway clear and no snowblower… although the back deck didn’t clear but maybe tomorrow?

Oh what am I doing inbetween all this… I have pretty much done another airplane..

1-SAM_6891

This was the start and it got pushed over to work on some electronic hotsopt projects than pulled back out to add a few more pieces..

1-SAM_6903

It has a tail and engine now…

1-SAM_6904

oh and wheels and struts..

1-SAM_6907

Through various other parts… a machine gun mounted up front..

Now it has a propeller and the wheels were painted and it is waiting the wire webbing structure to finish it up.  Then , I guess I will start another , differnet vintage?
