Ok, the last time I ended with the new handheld radio. I have played with it some and really like the size, the ability to swap wire-x rooms and other links. What I am not impressed with is the audio and bluetooth use. The speaker audio out is just not as good as the TH74d I have. they both appear to be about the same size speaker out but for some reason the Ft3 just doesn’t stay clear? I also worked the BT with a headset this last week and it appears to be just like the VX8r I had. You have to stay within 3 ft or it gets really garbled and might drop off. 3 ft is not enough distance. Think about it… if you have the radio on your belt and the headset on your head it is near 3 ft there and if I put the radio on the wrong side of my body it garbles out… So I will likely be using my TH74D as it workes much better at a reasonable distance. now for long distance I have an external BT on my Anytone that can get me 20 ft… that is much better but hangs off the side of the radio… oh well compromise… now after this short report on the FT3D.. updates for recent happenings…
Since we got back the end of August and I had gotten tickets to the Colorado State Fair s well as the evening show with 38 Special we made a run down to Pueblo for that on Sept 1st.. Good show but way too loud, I need to remember to take plugs or my noise cancelling headphones…ha!
This was the lead act Overton Road. They were pretty good.
Then 38Special… like all the old bands not a lot of the originals are there but they play the old music…
Now one real interesting thing… go to the webpage 38 Special… the base player – the one in the middle of the group… look close and then go here..
or better yet look at this picture..
We have asked his mom (on the right) if maybe he is moonlighting as a bass player now? Hummmm?
Other intersting things at the fair..
Ok, so on the wasy to the show or ? not sure where I grabbed this…
Actually I think they were headed north.. likely not taking the moose horns back?
We have been looking and sort-of needing a new car… our Avalon has over 200K on it so the look was on but the decision has been really slow. Once we found out that the exceptionally long warranty units in the class/style we wanted are order only and usually above retail, as well as harder to get to a location to get service we discounted the KIA and Hyundai… Sherrie liked the Highlander, 4 Runner, and the JeepGrand Cherrokee… but when the right deal came along it turned into the Highlander… Getting a Demo unit with 7k miles on it but being sold as new unit, with all the options and about 30% off sticker, well she couldn’t resist. So on Sept 2 we hit a dealer in Denver, looked, and agreed on price… She now has a new (to us) car. at least it smelled new.
That is the best a smile you can get when you just wrote a big check…ha! It is an AWD so mileage is a bit less but hopefully they won’t get stuck out here like last year in the car during a big snow storm… Although that said, it got pretty close to the overall mileage we used to get wtih the Avalon on our recent trip back to OK… yes, new on 9/2 and by today it has an extra 1900 miles on it… It needs to rest a few days now…
The next day after pickup we had to go back to get the nave map card… (original was missing)… and I got a hitch put on… so it will be able to move a few small trailers or haul the bike rack…
So yes, we left for OK on the 3rd… hey, more Dr’s and a FB game on Saturday…
At our first rest stop in Kansas on the way … “B” was real nervous as always that Sherrie was not back in the car yet…
So we got back to OK… It was a bit hot but not horrible, well I lie, it was horrible. WE got some Dr’s appts done, , eyes checked, scans and xrays and such and I finally got the painter on the back of the house there and we got the back deck oil/stained so good for a few more years… and looks pretty good..
Keep in mind he only did the deck, railing and stairs, the house, I had built with 25/50 year guarranteed cement fiber board with long term color on it… The painter also put a new coat of paint on the metal posts so that side is all fixed up… for this year.
One other thing, at least at that house I could get some real sunsets that had color and actually see beyond the trees…
So with that end , we are back in Colo for a few weeks, a little more out and about and such before we circle back to OK for a few days… maybe the next FB game won’t be so damn hot… we almost cooked but had to be there…
