This was a day at sea. which means we lounge around and eat, and they hope we spend money on drinks, gambling, gifts, etc.… we were not as obliging as some. We did get around a bit late but made it to the dining room for brunch… It was ok but seemed to be the same food that was on the other eating places, sort of…
Fancy eggs on muffins… ok but not worth the wait? Funny, they were on the buffet line too…
Huevos Rancheros, with chicken tortilla (that is what they called it… a bit spicier… decent fare..
The one things we can always say about the cruise is the food is usually great and you never go away hungry… I think I forgot to say in the first few posts, this is the same ship we were on in 2010 doing the Southern Caribbean. So a lot of the stuff was very familiar. although they did change up the dining areas some. The day was long and Sherrie was a bit wore out from the trip down and having just finished up radiation and various other issues so she went back to the room to knit and nap. I was there a bit then got out and walked the ship. You can get some good ‘miles” in on some of these ships and plenty of stairs to help out. I made it to the very top… and found…
a bit fancier than our room decoration…
After my morning walk I got back and guess what…. it was time to eat again… so this time we opted for the Lido deck and one of the change shops – they served up taco salads and burritos… we opted for the salads and we could get beef, chicken and grilled shrimp… the shrimp was really good…
We then made a short tour around the shops and through the casino and looked for some of our pictures from the day before… boy were they horrible… looking the wrong direction, not smiling or eyes squinted or ??? you name it they were just bad… well I guess they were truthful… that is why I don’t get in pictures much anymore… I carry a camera as an excuse so I can be on the other end…
The “view” lifts are near the shops and the noisy bar is at the bottom… the glass elevators are fun but I missed out this trip…
Once we got back to the room it had been made up and we had another visitor..
Friendly guy but he wasn’t staying on that bed… he got moved to the empty shelves …
The day at sea was also the “Formal” night… We are supposed to dress up for dinner… our problem is we are not dressy people. I have a couple of suits and they are used for …. funerals… so wearing that to the dinner was a bit of a downer but I got over it by not wearing a tie as I did have a colorless shirt… I have only worn that shirt …. 3 times? in all these years so it was a bit out of date too but hey,,,, so am I…
On our way. Someone had set this up so we all had cabins close together… was still a problem trying to get everyone together or on the same track… or even to answer when you knew where the rooms were…ha!
Most are intently checking out the menu… Most of the people knew how to dress up and again…
I like being on the other end of the camera… ha!
We tried a group picture on the way out… the lighting was not terribly favorable but we got every one looking this way anyhow… and a few of them were smiling…
After the dress-up affair we headed back to our cabins to meet shortly in the main theater for the evening show… well being the type of person I am… I change clothes… back into shorts and Hawaiian shirts… hey it was in the 70’s out here, dress for it…
But of course I was out of place… the others stayed dressed up… hate to say it but they were the few in the theater dressed for the show… ha!
One benefit was that some got pictures with the cast… I think he was enjoying it…. a lot!…
and again it was time to crash… in the morning we would be at Half Moon Cay… the private portion of an island owned by the cruise line… hummm owned by the cruise line? sounds like another chance to turn over some cash to the mother company?… Not sure but figure all the shops and stuff were owned by the cruise as well but wait to see… we have a shore excursion at the island so maybe it will be ok…
