All things seen and done

Yes it has been a long time but I just don’t get into writing on nothing.  Although this probably is barely more than nothing but here is what has happened recently.

An old friend of Sherrie’s from Stillwater came by for a visit and lunch.

We had birthdays several.  Of course I didn’t have one or maybe it was the ??? 41st of the 29th? then we had Ryan and Jenson a little after.  They decided to take a “Birthday trip” to Dodge City… normally September is not a bad month for that but after a cool August we are having a horribly hot September and locally breaking old high temp records by 5 to 7 degrees… ouch!   You can see some of their pics here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=ryan.ishmael.39&set=a.10109622711785412

With those temps Sherrie and I went the other way… there was a “Fiber Festival” in Salida so we headed up to cooler areas.

It wasn’t a huge festival but had plenty going on.

And of course in Salida you have to keep your eye open, lots of murals and paintings and just neat stuff.

We hadn’t been up for a long time and I am guessing due to the covid and other reasons they have not blocked off a lot of the main shopping street. Had tables out in the street for some of the restaurants and various other things out there.

We drive all the way up here, look at a lot of yarns and then …. she buys nothing… almost but not quit.

On our way around and out of town we spotted a few local funny people signs..

No not “WALLBURGERS” but WALLBANGERS!… hummm, may years ago it used to have a derrick out front but as all thing do they change.

We took the slow road down the Ark river and noted how shallow it was and that the “river tours” were pretty thin and then only for the run through the gorge.  Noticed an increased number of camp and day use areas on both sides of the river.

Of course once we got to Canon there was a festival there but we passed that up and went to Big Burger World to pick up some take home “green chili burger and bar b que sandwiches, then scooted on back to Monument as it was just damn hot out…

We don’t do a lot of exciting things anymore.  Actually it is exciting to be able to get up in the morning and we no longer “jump” out of bed it is more of crawl out, set on the edge a bit to get stable before we strive to stand up… Will have to see what might “excite” use this week.
